A gem nestled in the forest

The Pied-a-terre (french for refugee) is a quaint rural cabin nestled in the heart of North Carolina’s mountains. The objective was to preserve the old-fashioned feeling of a log cabin seamlessly integrating a more contemporary mid-century look.

behind the design

Pied-a-Terre seamlessly merges the feeling of a traditional wood cabin with a contemporary design. We renovated the entire chalet for this project, including the hot tub’s exterior areas, yoga platform, and “petanque” court, all with a touch of french mid-century European flare.

An automatic console lifts the TV up to allow for comfortable viewing and hides down to keep the space clean, connecting the social areas with an uninterrupted visual angle.  We also designed a double bed mezzanine structure to maximize occupancy, comfortably sleeping four people.
