THE MANGO
SUITE

Tropical minimalism

The Mango suite  is a 560 sq. ft. loft-style cottage, semi-detached from a traditional Florida home. In this project, we focused on creating an optimized living space, making thoughtful use of every inch to ensure the result was comfortable, stylish, and completelly functional.

behind the design

In the heart of Pompano Beach, Florida, where soaring property values and limited land have become the new normal, innovative design is not a luxury—it’s a necessity. The Mango Suite rises to meet this challenge. Built atop the original carport of a single-family home, this 500-square-foot loft extension is a striking example of how thoughtful architecture can transform tight footprints into elevated living experiences.

Every inch of the Mango Suite is purposefully designed. The 14-foot vaulted ceilings accommodate a lofted bed, cleverly creating space below for a cozy cinema room. A wide staircase not only connects the levels but doubles as ample closet space, maximizing functionality without compromising elegance. What was once the home’s laundry area now opens into a spacious, light-filled bathroom that blends comfort and serenity.

The project was not without its structural challenges. Extending the original load-bearing wall was essential to support the new room and achieve the necessary ceiling height. The use of SIP (Structural Insulated Panel) magnesium boards proved to be a smart, sustainable choice—both cost-effective and compliant with, or even exceeding, Florida’s rigorous hurricane building codes.

The Mango Suite is more than an extension—it’s a vision of intentional design, where aesthetics meet resilience, and compact living becomes extraordinary.
